Junk or Junque

Hello? Do you have pieces in your home that "don't match"? You know...those odd ball pieces that are here and there. Like an old phone that really works. It doesn't go with the decor, but you don't care, because you love the ringers, and the cradle.
Maybe it's a little jar that you think is just too cute to get rid of. A piece of lace that should be sewn onto a pillow slip..but instead, you attach it to an old cupboard so that you can look at it every day.
Don't forget the starfish! They seem to pop up all over the place.
How about your tatty, old straw hat and purse. Everyone has one of those.
Vintage window sashes are so handy...you can put them in a window, lean them against a wall...

Then there's the favorite tea pot. It doesn't match any of your dishes, but you love using it anyway. I have this little bird that makes me smile every time I look at her. She's just so sweet, and the patina is gorgeous.
Some might think of me as a "junk" collector. I think of me as a "junque" lover. Just watch as I scavenge through some one's pile of stuff left out on trash day! It's a gift! To be able to rescue an old table, chair, clock, or even just a piece of wood. Then clean it up, paint it, and display the piece in your home like a cherished treasure.
It's okay to mix things up. Instead of being thought of as "the lady next door that collects trash"...think of me as "the lady next door that's very eclectic".
Who said...one man's trash is another man's treasure?
Whoever that was....was right!
Have a great day!

I loved your post today. It really inspires me to get out some of my 'junque' that is collecting dust in the basement and do a little more tweaking here and there in the house. :)
