May flies

Good Sunday morning friends~~~~
One sign of warmer weather here at the lakehouse is the hatch of the May flies. This year was an exceptional one.

They were everywhere!!! You know the flies life span is short by the way they flutter around in such a flurry.
It looked like snow for a couple of days around here. You didn't want to be outside for very long.
Then the aftermath...sweeping up piles of dead May flies. So glad it's over for the year.
Now the next phase of summer begins...mosquito season.

  1. Hi Debbie,
It looks so serene and peaceful on the lake...sigh. :) We don't live near water, but have plenty of nats this time of year regardless...and mosquitos, ugh!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

P.S. Thanks for the soothing music...so relaxing. :)

  2. Oh my gosh! I can't believe the number of Mayflies you had this year! I can't ever remember having them that bad when we lived at the lake. Holy cow! It does look like it's snowing!

I can see why you had to keep your mouth shut when you walked outside.....lol!

  4. Thanks for visiting my blog Debbie. We are practically neighbors! I live in Ossineke, just south of Alpena. I grew up on Long Lake and I miss living on a lake so much.

We will actually be camping this summer at Higgens Lake, and my sister lives in West Branch. Very nice to make your acquaintance.
