Summer rain....

Good morning everyone~~~I awoke to the sound of rain drops softly pitter-pattering on the roof.
It's been so hot and humid, with no rain for quite some time, it was nice to hear those welcome drops of water.
The flowers were enjoying the sounds, and fresh scent the showers were bringing as much as I was.

I looked out of the upstairs window and saw all these happy little guys dancing in time with the rain drops as they tapped out a song on the pavement.

I love all the colors this time of year.
My gardens are VERY informal...so everyone just mingles together...laughing and swaying in the breeze.

Standing at the window upstairs and looking out, I could smell the freshness, and
all the scents of the flowers filling the air.

Even though it was raining, I stood outside and watched as the plants seemed to grow and open wide, drinking in the longed for water droplets.

The birds must be enjoying the summer rain too. They are all singing their songs, adding to the wonderful sound of the rain.
It's a beautiful day here at the lakehouse. I hope your day is also enjoyable...where ever you are.
Hugs,
Debbie

  1. Oh Debbie~Your gardens are beautiful. I love a cottage garden that is not all formalized and set in straight rows (although I appreciate those too). I am in a gardening group and they call that Pooh gardening-like Winnie the Pooh...lol

I can smell the rain washed freshness right through the screen. Enjoy your day-back to work now for me~ >sigh< Diana

  2. Wow - your gardens ARE beautiful, Debbie! Mine pale miserably compared to yours, girl! Great, sweet post today, too. It's raining down here, too. We needed it, huh? :)

  5. Hi Debbie,
Your flowers are just so pretty! I love the view of them from upstairs. I am with you, I much prefer an informal, cottage style garden to a formal one any day! We finally got some much needed rain late this afternoon, too! Still very hot & muggy! Keep cool!

  6. There really is nothing like a summer shower. The sounds of the rain, and especially the birds! There just seems to be a calm feeling after the rain. P.S.I love your informal garden!!

  7. What pretty flowers...I was walking the dog yesterday and looking around at all my neighbors homes and I was wondering why nobody has any flowers planted this year..I have 3 hanging baskets on the porch and the neighbors across the street have a veggie garden...on their front lawn which I think is a bit tacky...but other then that no flowers...maybe it's the bad economy?

  9. Hi Debbie,
Your garden looks lovely!! It's since dried up here in central California. I know my plants would LOVE a big drink of rain water. Your plants seem very happy! :)
