Tea on the porch

Hello lovelies~~~it's Thursday, and you know what that means....going over to Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
I set the table on the sun porch with the dishes my Grandmother used at her luncheons for the Bridge Club.
The dishes were given to Gran by Mrs. John Ball. John Ball was the founder of the John Ball Park Zoo in Grand Rapids.
I've used them many times for "teas" at my home for the ladies from our church.

The runner is from my collection of table linens I've collected over the years.
The little spoons are from our trip to France years ago.

The crystal is from St. Vinney's. Candle stick, one of my first flea market finds. The napkins are from an elderly neighbor.
The kerosene lamp is from my husband.
The silk flowers are from my shop.
I love sitting on the sun porch...any time of day. Watching the boats go by, or just relaxing and looking at the water sparkle. Enjoying breakfast, lunch, or supper is always such a treat on the porch.
I hope you enjoyed your visit. Thank you for stopping by.
I am joining Kathy at A Delightsome Life for the "Victoria" party.

  1. Hi Debbie,
I just love your table runner! And how nice that you could incorporate the spoons from France, and your Grandmas china into your pretty table! We just got back from a short camping trip north of Traverse City, so I will have to write a blog about it tomorrow. It is one of my favorite parts of our pretty state! Have a great night :)

  18. How wonderful that you are using the same china that your grandmother did for her luncheons. If dishes could talk, I am sure these would have so many stories. Ah, to live on a lake...

  23. Tea ... your gorgeous table reminds me that I need to stop the madness and have my girlfriends over for coffee. It won't look a thing like yours -- some mismatched Life is Good and Starbucks mugs with plastic creamer containers on the table -- but some much needed time to reconnect with friends none-the-less.

I'm loving your garden. And I can't pick out the snake grass, it all looks like it should be there to me.

  25. Hi Debbie! Thanks so much for stopping by... so glad you did! I see that you are from Houghton Lake... my mom grew up in St. Helen and my grandmother had a restaurant there. I remember hanging out there as a kid, we would go to the outdoor dance place (can't remember the name of it now) I haven't been up there in years but I have some great memories from there! You set a beautiful table, how nice to have your grandmothers dishes, I have the sundae glasses from my grandmothers rest. and cherish them. My youngest loves to make what he calls Max Sundaes in them for all of us :) Thanks again for stopping by, Theresa
