French chandelier

Good morning lovies~~~
It's another crisp Autumn morning here at the lakehouse, with not a cloud in the sky.
I awoke to the gulls making a racket out over the water. One of my favorite sounds here at the lake.
Since hunting season is just around the corner, I'm making sure hubby gets a few things done around here. Once bow season starts, I might as well forget anything major getting accomplished.
He hung the French chandelier in the living room. The living area is in the addition to the house. The space above the ceiling is so cramped, you cannot get in there for much electrical work. So, hubby had to "swag" the chain and cord from an existing outlet on the ceiling.  It's NOT the way I'd like, but I'll take what I get.

I might add crystals to the arms in the future...but for now, I like the simplicity of it as is. Now I can look through the dining room, into the living room and see both chandy's. LOVE it!
The next project on the "to do" list is a new sea wall....THAT will be a biggie.
I'm sharing today's post with Faded Charm for White Wednesday. I hope you are able to hop over for a visit and see all the other "whites" shared for the event.
Have a super day everyone!
Hugs,
Debbie

  4. I love it!!!!! I am still trying to talk hubby into changing out the ugly thing we have in our dining area. It is falling apart and ugly! Did you find the chandy on one of your antique hunts? It's just gorgeous.

I hear you on the sea wall. We are getting some electrical work done at the lake. Now that summer is almost over, we are back to work...lot's of painting and odd indoor jobs. Sigh...it never ends.

    Happy Wednesday!

  6. Bon Jour Debbie,
Well, your post title caught my eye, as soon as I saw the word "French", and then "chandelier"! Be still, my heart! I love, love, love it! I actually like the chain being draped like that. And as I always say, you can never have too many chandeliers!! Just gorgeous!

  9. It's just so pretty Debbie and how nice it must look all lit up and shining especially at night:)
We bought a new pool cover so that is taking up hubby's time right now, I'll get him later.

  10. So cool! You could paint the chain and wire white so it fades into the ceiling and isn't as noticable.
Sea wall, huh? Oh, what do you have planned now? I can't wait to see!
My husband is not a hunter, but I understand bow season all too well.
Harvest is the same thing around here, as far as being a widow on you own while it's happening.
It's still slow and DH did 70 hours last week.
Enjoy your new chandy and have a great day on the lake!

  15. Love it, Debbie! Now please don't tell me you got that when you and Laurie were shopping! It is just perfect in your house...and I don't think it looks bad swagged at all. We had a house that there was no way to get wires in and we swagged a couple of lights in there too. I ended up painting the wiring/chain white so it would "disappear".

You know one of the things I really like about it? The "coverings" on the candlestick part that looks like "drips" down the side. Those are almost impossible to find. I had one and couldn't find them anywhere. I took the regular ones and dripped glue down them and then painted them to cover the glue and aged them a bit with some "smokey toned" paint.

I know you love the sound of the gulls. We don't really have those here but we do have geese and herons and a couple of cranes. But what I miss (because we are further from town now and the entrance to the channel) is the sound of the fog horns. That was always such a wonderful, mournful sound.

Okay-I need to quit "talking" and go to bed...another long day tomorrow! xxoo Diana

  17. Love the chandelier!! I have a small one that is sort of like yours over my kitchen sink...mine does have the crystals hanging from it.
We had to swag the light over our dining room table for the same reason. It bothered me at first, but after awhile I didn't really notice it.
