Vintage trim

Happy Sunday morning to everyone!
It's another sunny, warm Autumn day here at the Lakehouse.
The colors outside are gorgeous!
Today I'm joining Tete at Beyond the Garden Gate for her party 2nd Hand Collections. Please pop in for a visit, and join in the fun.
I LOVE using pieces of vintage trim to decorate with.
I've scrounged around in old barns, junque piles, flea markets, and my daughter's trash heap for pieces of trim to rescue and re-use.
Porch trims, iron brackets, vintage posts, and woodwork always give me goosebumps when I find them.
I bring them home, clean them up, sometimes give them a coat of white paint, then use them in the corners of the house that need a little extra something to catch one's eye.

Why anyone would consider these gorgeous pieces "junk" is beyond my comprehension???? They are pieces of art to my eye. Hand carved to achieve the curves, and designs of each piece.

To each his own I guess.
Using pieces for frames, trivets, shelves, and brackets not only decorates your home, but saves the environment as well.
Sometimes I think about the person that carved, or designed these works of art. The hard work they put into each piece to achieve such beauty....it amazes me.
These are just a few of my favorite pieces. I have lots more, but will save them for another post.
Enjoy your day!
Blessings.
Debbie

  7. I have seen beautiful pieces before but was stumped as to how to use them. I love the one you have on the lower window sill. Most of our doorways in our home are curved, so that's not an option. You have such a great imagination, Debbie!

Thanks for the tip on the cloche {using pumpkins and gourds}. What do you think for Christmas while we are on the subject??!

    XO,
    Janie

  14. Beautiful trim pieces, Debbie. I love them all. I have had a fascination with these whirly-qued, frilly pieces of trim since I was a kid. I loved it when I found out that some of it is called gingerbread trim. Wouldn't you know...anything to do with food and I would LOVE it? lol Nice post, my sweet friend..Diana
