Ugly corner.

Good morning everyone.
Snow is coming to the lakehouse for the next few days.
The ground isn't frozen, so it won't stay for long.
Mother Nature is just giving us a preview of what's to come.
I thought I'd give you a glimpse of another corner of the house. There is this nasty "pretend" fireplace that the previous owners put in....ugh. We plan to replace it in the NEAR future. Until then, I try to mask it as much as possible.
I have this vintage iron and board that I've displayed another piece from my linen collection on, sitting in front of the ugly "pretend" stones of the ugly "pretend" fireplace.  What were they thinking????!!!!!
I tend to "junque" up my house....leftover habit from the "country decor" days. Some habits are hard to break.
Until we tear this monstrosity out, I'm stuck trying to camouflage it as much as possible.
Do you have a corner that you are trying to hide? or is it just me?

  8. I think you did a great job of hiding the fireplace, but I never thought you to be anything but a great collector of neat pieces!

I don't have many ugly corners...I just don't have enough space. I do hate the television in the living room corner with all the wires. Why all those wires for one little box?? Someone should have an Ugly Corner party!

    XO,
    Jane

  12. Oh honey, my house is fullllllll of corners that I'm trying to hide. Love your ironing board. I have had 2 through the years that I have used in booths for displays and I even used one for a sofa table and that turned out really cool. Alas, they are gone now.
I buy and sell and keep what doesn't sell and make it work.

  13. I think everyone has a little ugly somewhere! We have a REAL fireplace downstairs that I think is pretty ugly and YOU KNOW WHO likes it. It is oversized chunk marble with hard edges and juts and jabs all over it. It is a very small sitting room and the thing overpowers the whole place. Consequently, we hardly ever use the room. Sad.. I don't think yours is so bad but then...I can't see it! lol Guess that was the idea, huh? Hugs- Diana

  14. Hi Debbie,
So funny, I didn't even notice the faux fireplace! Maybe instead of trying to hide it, and hating it in the process, you could play it up! You know, embrace the fireplace!:)

  16. Debbie,
I don't have any ugly corners...but I do have a very ugly stone fireplace in our family room down in the lower level of our home. The furnace duct runs right through the middle of the ceiling and ends up above the mantel. What were they thinking? Can't put anything very tall on the mantel...not to mention that it is a very ugly concrete mantel. We hope to give it a face lift in the near future.
Love your old ironing board! I have 2 of them and just love decorating them.
I've heard we are getting some snow over-night here in Ohio...but you're right, it won't stick yet.
    Have a great weekend.

  17. I've got lots of ugly places-especially our bathroom which needs a major redo-but it's our only one and we keep putting it off. I've got lots of places I stash stuff-I always say-married a farmer for the barns, but I've got rooms too. I try and try to work on it, but junking is just in my blood-yours looks pretty good. Love the fireplace cover with all it's scrolls!

  18. I dont have an ugly corner -because we recently renovated... but before that - yes, I had a corner in my living room where the floor was so messed up - I had to keep moving furniture around to cover it. So I know what you mean.

Can't believe you are getting snow!!! WOW
