I couldn't do it....

I couldn't do it!
I couldn't let go of my old Heartland Stove.
I was going to put it out by the road with a for sale sign on it, but I couldn't.
Then I was going to sell it on Craig's List, but I couldn't.

I was going to bring it to the shop, but I couldn't.
Why am I soooo attached to this thing?
Because I had it at the farmhouse when the kids were little?
Because I saved, and saved for it over twenty years ago?
It's crazy! It's just a "thing". But I love it!
Sooooo...even with my new stainless stove coming tomorrow, I will still have my much loved, old stove.
Our kitchen and dining area are one big room, so it works having it in the dining room corner.
It probably doesn't match the lakehouse "theme"(whatever that is)...but I don't care.

Is there something at your house that would be hard to part with? or am I the only nut-case here in blogland?
Doesn't matter...the stove stays!!!

  1. Oh My Goodness, I would not part with it either... Yes our stoves have LOTS OF MEMORIES attached... I now have an Elmira that looks like yours BUT it has 6 gas burners a warming oven and the main oven is convection/regular(whatever you want, I ALWAYS use the convection)...I LOVE this look SO I'm hoping you will miss it and MAYBE drag it BACK one day to use it again, hehe!!! Thank you for sharing.
    Have a wonderful week,
    Hugs,
    Donna

  2. I would not get rid of it either! Besides who wants to move it? It probably weighs a ton! Who cares about a "theme". It is a part of you and then it fits your home. keep because you will regret leaving a old friend at the curb!

  4. Debbie- dear one, keep your stove with you. It's a part of you. Even if it were to go- you would still have all the wonderful memories- because they are in you, but if you love it, let it keep you company a while longer.
It looks great in your dining room and you will have so much fun dolling it up for every season. There may even be a granddaughter who ends up with grandma's stove and she will so glad you didn't let it go...
Hope you are having a fun day and can't wait to see your new stove!
    Hugs- Tete

  5. Debbie, that stove is incredible and I would so be heart broken if you were to get rid of it. Sounds like you have the perfect spot for it and so you don't have to get rid of it. Yay! ~Hugs, M

  7. Keep The Stove! Keep The Stove! Keep The Stove! Are you hearing that chant from across the lake? That stove is part of who you are- part of who your kids are-part of your life before and this marriage. I know they are only "things" too but some of them just seem like old friends. I have my grandmother's old sewing machine that has seen better days..and it is a "table" by the front window in my garage now...but I would be hard pressed to let it go. She never had much of anything and I can only imagine what that old treadle machine meant to her. I can remember her sewing on it even when I was a teenager. She was always whipping out aprons and dresses from that old thing.

I think it is good to be connected to some "things"...as long as "things" don't rule your life~and that's all I'm sayin' 'bout that! xo Diana

  9. Debbie,
I would keep it for sure!!! I believe that if you love something and it speaks to you...then it is a keeper and it will fit your theme. Because your theme is just that...the things you love that have a special place in your heart.

    Cindy

  10. The stove is awesome, Debbie. It's in your heart and so you can't let it go. It looks good where you have it, too! I have a lot of small things I have to part with...I have no storage space for things, so if I buy anything new, it all gets more cluttered. My daughter claims she can't breathe with all my clutter and she doesn't mean allergies!!

    Jane

  12. Oh, poooh! I was going to drive by and nab that beauty after you left it by the road......But I don't blame you for wanting to keep it, sis. Hey.....old lakehouses had old stoves like that at one time. Why wouldn't it fit in with your decor???? :) Luv it right where it's at!!

Are you all packed for this weekend....? ♥

  13. I would not part with it either! That is definitely a keeper. I have wanted one for quiet a while but have not found one at a price I am willing to pay. I think it looks great in your lakehouse it is vintage and adds to the other vintage elements. To answer your question, yes, there are plenty of things in my house I just cannot part with!

    Tracy
