Fall tablescape

I guess it's time to finally embrace the Fall season. I've been hanging on to summer for as long as possible.
Waking up to frost this morning made me realize that Fall is really here.(I'm hoping for a long Indian Summer).
I wanted to join in with Susan for Tablescape Thursday...but I showed my fall dishes last season.
However, Mr. Lakehouse and I are tasting our collection of wines, so I decided to put together a little tablescape that would enhance the mood....a little.
My oldest daughter, Kelly, got me hooked on the wines from Howell's Mainstreet Winery in Howell Michigan.  One of my favorites is the Very Blueberry.

Then....during the Howell Melon Festival, Kelly presented me with a glass of the Melonfest wine...made especially for the festival.

Oh...my...goodness!!!
I don't usually drink white wines, but this one changed my mind forever.
It's actually sweet, and soooooo smooth.
Before leaving Howell, I visited the winery.
I came home with a whole box of wines!!
Another trip to Howell last weekend, and another box of wine traveled north with me.

Before returning home, Kelly and I opened the bottle of Ice Wine I purchased.....another oh my goodness moment.

One of the new wines that came home with me was Hocus Pocus. What a great name for a "Fall wine".
Even the label is appropriate for the season!
Of course, more Melonfest wine was brought home.

I understand this isn't really a "true" tablescape post, but I thought it was okay to share, because of the Autumn tone to it.
I had to take pictures fast...Mr. Lakehouse was anxious to pull the glass of wine out of the scape!!

The next bottle was NOT purchased at the Howell winery. It was a gift from a friend at the pharmacy. Tina visited the winery in Traverse City, and thought this bottle was something I would LOVE to add to my collection.

So...there you have it...my "Fall tablescape" for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.
Take a trip over to Susan's blog and see what everyone else is sharing for today.
Enjoy......

  1. I knew it-I knew it-I knew it. That Laurie has turned you into an alcoholic and now you are blaming your poor daughter for it! That BitingDog/SassyCat got you hooked, didn't it?

Your tablescape is lovely. Very fallish and wonderful. Love it. There are a couple of good wineries around here too. One of them is Von Stehl and they make a wonderful wine called Octoberfest. I give it everyone for any occassion in the Fall. xo Diana

You'll have to forfeit a bottle of that blueberry wine, sis, when you come down in a couple weeks! I need to try it. (But don't tell Diana.....) :)

  4. Well, I know nothing about wine, but I do know if you have enough of it, you better have the bottom half of the table decorated, too, because that's where you will be...
I think you need to put that back for that long winter coming up and the winds are howling and the lights go off. It might just keep you from getting frost bite.

  5. Good morning, Debbie! Hey...do you know Lizabeth Wojes of Infuse With Liz blog? She lives in Traverse City where your friend Tina got that cool bottle of Mad Housewife wine! We woke up to temps in the upper 40s here in the Kansas City, MO area. I guess I will have to concede that fall is indeed on the horizon. I, like you, am hoping for an extended Indian Summer. I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass all summer, so it's time for some weather that makes sense! :-) You put together a really pretty setting for wine tasting! That one really cool yellow gourd that looks like it has a skirt (or is that a "That Girl" hairdo?)....it's really fun! Go ahead and break your fall dishes out for a new and different tablescape! You can show us a "then" and "now" of them by putting a bunch of cool new things as accents! C'mon! Please??!??!! Pretty please?!?!?! I use some of the same dishes over and over and over again just to see how I can make them look different. I'll be looking for yours! :-) Have a great weekend!!!

  14. Hi Debbie, this vignette is quite something!! What's the saying, "wine a bit, it will make you feel better?" Works for me lol! My family would purchase the last bottle for me, I'm sure! I'm ready to look at those fall dishes, even though you've used them before, most of us have forgotten, or have just joined in, so feel free to pull them out again! Cute post and lovely table!!
