My cluttered cottage.

Welcome to my cluttered, unstaged cottage.
Yup...I'm keepin' it real today folks.
After having the house on the market for a year, I'm tired.
Tired of the whole thing!

I've un-decluttered the house.
There are still some totes in the garage with a few more things packed in them.
I am slowly working on getting each one unpacked.

I am a clutter-bug.
I should go to clutter-bugs anonymous...but don't feel like it's a problem.
Although my family would argue that fact.
I see myself as a collector of beautiful things....LOTS of beautiful things.

Once in a while, I take things to my booth to sell.
But on my way out of the shop, I see something in another booth that catches my eye.....
well, you know how that goes.

Pay no attention to that door that's open.
That room really doesn't match the rest of the house at all.
It's "Man's Town".
Mr. L needed somewhere to keep his junk, so he has a room all to his own filled with dead animal heads, guns, fishing stuff, hunting stuff, and other junk.
I forgot to shut the door.

I even went less foofy on the bedding for a while.
I'm such a rebel.
We've decided to forget about selling for the winter months, and do some redecorating around the house.

We are even going to do a few things outside as well.
If we end up liking what we've done....we will end up staying put.
We will wait, and see.
Until then, we plan to enjoy our time here. No more pressure worrying about selling the place. No more showings, and being anxious. We both need a break from that.
We both enjoy living on the water. We like this place. I just wish it was closer to my kids, and grand kids.
If we stay...we will have a new driveway, the seawalls will be finished. We will have a larger beach area, and a floating dock for the kids to swim to, and jump off.
The bathrooms will be re-done. The living room will have hardwood floors, and I'm planning on painting, and possibly papering the walls.
It will all be okay.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my cluttered cottage....hey! maybe I should rename my blog!!
Enjoy your weekend~~~~

  2. Life has a way of pointing us in the direction we're supposed to go. I'm always amazed at how my life isn't at all what I thought it would be. Not that I'm not happy, but it's just not what I thought.

I know I've said it before, but I LOVE that bedroom!! xo

  3. What a gorgeous home! I don't see clutter at all! Sorry it didn't sell but maybe there's a reason why you're suppose to stay there. Course, being close to the kids and grandkids is quite a temptation!

  7. Love the idea of re-naming! The Cluttered Cottage! You wouldn't have to change the url, just the header. I did that once. Love your cluttered cottage although I wouldn't want all the work of dusting and cleaning that it must require. So cozy in there. So pretty. There's something shabby-chic about me...I admire it but it my real life, I can't deal with or afford the stuff it requires.

  9. It's hard to sell through winter...who wants to move then . Debbie, I hope you feel good about staying put. I feel like I am stuck here for eternity. I do not like living in the country...I like no barking dogs, I like all the birds we see here. I like the quiet.....but I hate being even this 5 miles from town. I get too lonely at times. Take care and enjoy the weekend. Thinking of you, with love. xoxo,Susie

  10. Your home doesn't look cluttered at all Debbie! It looks bright, clean and romantic:) I had a good laugh at the description of your hubby's man cave though!

I can only imagine how stressful it must have been to have your house on the market for a whole year! It sounds like a good idea to take it off for now. I hope you're having a lovely weekend:)

  11. Thanks for stopping by my windows and doors photo challenge.
Your home is beautiful, and I know from selling a home it takes the right person to walk in and say "this is it!"
Perhaps you aren't meant to move?

  12. You are just too funny, Debbie! I love your home, you already know that:) And I don't see it as cluttered, I see it as warm, inviting, and full of life! Your dining room is gorgeous, I am in love with your ruffled chair covers! So romantic! I can feel the relief in your "voice", you sound happier and more at ease now that you have decided to stay put for the time being. Your home looks straight out of Jeanne d'Arc Living Magazine, yes, it really does!!

  14. It would certainly be understandable to be frustrated with such a long selling process. Wanting to move and not be able to is a well known frustration of mine also. We have to trust that the universe will unfold as it should.. :D

  15. I love a non staged house, because then it looks like a home :-)
I'm sorry your house hasn't sold, and some of your dreams have been put on hold (and no, I didn't plan to rhyme that!).
Just think about how your blog will change when you no longer live on the lake.
Debbie, you have a way about you that reminds me of Suzy Toronto's "Wonderful Wacky Women"...and that, my friend, is a compliment!

  17. I don't think it's cluttered at all...but then I LOVE clutter so to me it looks just right. So the hubby has a guy room all to himself...I think that's great. I love your decorating and your new plans sound fun, just about when you get started someone will want to buy your home! I also think living by the water like that would be so wonderful! Take care and have fun re-doing!
