Happy Weekend.

I am really looking forward to this weekend.
Our youngest daughter, Melissa, her husband, Kevin, and their three girls are coming up to stay at the cottage.
Kevin will be showing the Mr. how to put in tile around the tub in the upstairs bathroom.
After the tile is installed, we will re-glaze the tub, and  work on making that room ready for the pretty shabby chic shower curtain I found at www.summersatthecottage.com.

I've purchased gorgeous ruffled bed skirts, and pillows from their site.
When we finish the bathroom, I'll show you the shower curtain...it's beautiful!

I spent time cleaning the tiny, attic style bedrooms here at the cottage today.
I don't have many options, as far as moving furniture around.
The ceilings are on such a steep slant, it limits where the bed can go.
We cannot get anything larger than a double bed up the narrow stairway. We wouldn't have enough room for a queen size bed in these small rooms anyway.
You find the joy in what you are given.  When we were young, we loved cuddling, and falling asleep in each other's arms.
After about five minutes....I realize something has changed....my neck starts to hurt, his hip gets soar, we both snore, I'm sweating..............It's time to roll over..or better yet, move to the guest bedroom.
Have a great weekend everyone!!

  1. lol I don't know how anyone over 50 sleeps in anything smaller than a king size bed, to be honest with you, Debbie! lolol! Between his snoring and my hot flashes...it's a good thing we have plenty of room to sprawl. :) I love the sweetness of your guest room. It's so cottage lovely!!!! Have a fun weekend getting that bath all prettied up!!!

  2. I am so happy your daughter and her family are visiting!! It sounds like a lot of work will take place, but getting it done is so worth it! I hope hope you have a wonderful time being all together!

I love your bedrooms...you have made them so pretty and cozy. I bet your granddaughters feel like they are in a storybook room! Our lakehouse is a double A Frame. The two guest rooms have the sloping walls and so we can only do furniture arrangements so many ways. Our bedroom just has a really weird jutting piece of ceiling in the corner. lol! I just don't know how to work with that!

Happy Valentine's Day to one of the biggest sweeties I know!

    XO,
    Jane

  3. I am drooling over your beautiful bed and gorgeous bed, Debbie! I had to laugh over your comments about needing space in bed:) I am the same, I like my own side, no arm or leg or hand touching me while I am trying to sleep! Have a wonderful weekend with your daughter and her family!

  5. I'm so happy to hear your daughter and her family are coming up to the lake. I know how much that means to you . It will be a lovely weekend.

I grew up in a bungalow home in Chicago and our bedroom was upstairs and we had those slanted walls like that. I like to think it's cozy and it always reminds me of home. xo

  9. How wonderful that your family is coming to visit! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time:) Your little attic guest room is so beautiful!

Haha, my husband snores like crazy but I guess I'm used to it now. I'm 45 and just starting to go through the hot flash thing, sometimes all it takes is for him to put his hand on my back when we're in bed and it feels like a hot iron!!!

  10. LOL- Yes- there is so much truth in that last statement. LOL Every once in a while I crawl off to sleep in another room-where I can sprawl out-leave the TV on and stay up extra late! xo Diana
