Going to Market to Buy, not a fat pig.

Good Monday morning!
Before getting ready for work, I wanted to share what I found at the Midland Antique Show and Market on Saturday.
This was my first trip to the show. It's HUGE!!
They have a whole section just for "Shabby Chic".
The first piece I saw was this door plate from an old church in Detroit.
I could have turned it sideways, and added some hooks for a coat rack, I know...but I love it just the way it is.
I knew it would fit perfectly in this space.
I LOVE it!

Another vendor had this gigantic bush of Sweet Annie underneath a table. I asked if it was for sale.
She "was" planning to use it in her displays, but decided I could buy it if I wanted it for $5.00.
Choke, cough, $5.00! uummm.....YEAH!!!
I am very, very happy to have this highly allergic bush hanging in my dining room.
There's enough there for all sorts of dried arrangements! L O V I N G IT!!!

Then I happened along another booth that had this garland of Bittersweet illegally decorating pieces of furniture, and all manner of decor in her booth.
Of course, the owner said it's growing all over her property..."of course".
So I asked if I could buy a garland from her....hmmmmmm.....okay....just this one.
YES!

I was happy to see one of my favorite vendors from another show I've visited, and purchased treasures from in the past.
She puts together these cute bottles for the season.

I found an old bottle for my window sill that I neglected to photograph for this post.
I also found this gorgeous piece of architecture.
I can only imagine the building it must have come from.
That's it. No pieces of furniture. No doors, or sashes. No chandeliers. Just odds, and ends. Little treasures that were enough to bring a smile to my face, and joy to my heart.
The best part was spending the day with Mr. L. Yup...no gal pals this time. Just me and the mister walking around acres of booths on a sunny Saturday afternoon....life is good.

  1. So sweet Debbie to have a day with the hubby. I am doing that on Sunday when me and Terry go to the last Elkhorn Flea in Wisconsin. It is about an hour drive from our house in Illinois and it is one of the best. Love all your treasures. Love the door plate you got from an old church in Detroit. Love history and memory pieces. Love all the treasures you score.

  2. Your treasures are AMAZING!!! Just AMAZING!!!! I love Sweet Annie and have some in my mulch area that sprung there and I let it be. Do you know if you cut it fresh it will wilt down like it is dead .. and then stick it in an arrangement with fresh water and it will last for a couple of weeks. Personally, I LOVE the smell of it, too.

Why is the bittersweet illegal there? I can't find it anywhere here anymore. I used to be able to pick it up anywhere....darn it all!

LOVE your door plate! Oh- I really think you and Kris and I should meet up one day!!! Doncha just love her? xo Diana

  3. Debbie, I love sweet annie and bittersweet. Martha's vineyard is covered in bittersweet. They call it an invasive weed. I would have been going to the Earth festival to buy some of each , this coming weekend....but I am thinking my foot is still hurting from all the inclines and stairs at my grandson's wedding , last week. Glad you had some fun with your MR. Blessings to you both. xoxo,Susie

  4. Oh Debbie oh my how I adore Bittersweet. Matter of fact I wound up purchasing faux because I could not find any in Philly. The bottles with Halloween labels I L-O-V-E, your mantel decorated for Fall/Halloween looks amazing. I agree with the other comments I too love your door plate.

  8. Oh 2 of my favorite things, Sweet Annie and bittersweet. That garland is great, it is getting so hard to find. None of my Sweet annie seemed to come up this year.

  9. Love your treasures Debbie, but the best treasure is the memories of a day spent with your hubby! I didn't realize bittersweet was illegal. I've never seen it around here though.

  10. Even small treasures can make a shopping day successful and you picked up some nice things. It never hurts to ask as you did with the dried plants, all they can say is no.

  11. I really love everything you came home with Debbie! I love it when I only go to a sale and bring home small little treasures that don't fill the back of the truck :))) You really found some great pieces to add to your beautiful home.
I went back to read the posts I have missed here and so glad that I did. Your bedroom is such a beautiful room. It is full of so much charm and everything I adorn in a room.
Your posts are always such a lift my dear.
    sending big hugs...
