Enjoy your day!!!

The sun is shining again, but it's much colder today.
The damp air has been replaced with an icy chill.
Feels like more arctic air is heading our way.

Most of the people that head south for Winter have left our resort community. By the end of the month, the rest will be gone.
Our sub-division will be like a little ghost town.
The ones that are left will keep each other company until Spring.

As our friends and neighbors are sitting on sandy beaches, watching beautiful sunsets over the water.....we'll be here....tucked inside by a fire, with a glass of wine in hand, watching gorgeous sunsets of our own.
The anticipation of the days getting longer, and the sun setting a little bit higher north in the western sky as each day eases ever closer to Spring causes you to appreciate the change in seasons more, I think.
Not that I have anything against going south for the Winter. I would if I could!! But I cannot. So I must learn to enjoy what I have in front of me.  Open my eyes to the blessings around me.!!
I've been south during the cold months. It was great each time I was there.  I don't know when I will be able to go again. Instead of longing for that day, I want to keep enjoying my days.  Don't you?
Yes, it's cold...wear a sweater. It's windy...wear a scarf!  If it's snowing, put on those boots that you wanted so badly this past Fall!!  If you want to look tan...buy a lotion with a bronzer in it. If you are really tired of the same old Winter stuff....then throw a "Beach Party"!! just for fun.  It's all good. There are those that actually LOVE Winter. My grand kids ski, and snowboard all Winter long! They even like to play in the snow....just play in it!!
I guess what I'm trying to say is...whatever the weather is where you are, I hope you are able to find something fun to do, and enjoy your day. Today only comes once.

  1. Debbie,
What a sweet from the heart post. I didn't realize where you live people pack up and leave for the winter months. I know your winters are more severe but at the New Jersey shore many leave for the warmth of the south in the winter. They are nicknamed "snowbirds"!
We are bracing for what seems a Blizzard starting tomorrow. In Philadelphis perhaps a foot of snow but New York into Boston upwards of three feet. YIKES!!! We have been lured into thinking Philly would have a light snowfall winter .... guess not.
Debbie I hope you are taking it easy and resting to get well. I understand the cough, I've been told it takes 4 weeks to calm down. I'm hopefully days away. . .
I love your winter advice, there is much beauty in embracing the Winter that gives way to a gentle Spring and all the changes in-between.
Sending love and a gentle hug,
    Vera

  3. Hi Deb. I want to come hang out by the fire with you. We'd be so busy gabbing that we'd never notice the snow and cold. xo

  4. I actually think because we don't go south we appreciate the Spring so much more. Besides I don't mind a day like today where Mr and I sat on the couch, talked, watched TV and made supper together. I cherish those days.

  5. Accepting each day as it comes and being content with what we have is a great way to live. Like you I live where it's cold and snowy.

  6. Debbie,
So sweet a post. I hate the winters we have here in the midwest but you have given a positive spin on them. You are so right each day is a gift to be cherished cold or no cold! Happy new week to you my friend.

  7. Well I live in the south but it is freezing cold here today! I don't think you would find it much better than where you are except for the fact that there is no snow on the ground. I think you have to go to Florida to get further away from the cold these days.

  8. Hi Debbie, what a lovely winter time post. Lovely photos. You are so right in that each day is a gift and even when we have good or bad weather, it's all good if we are alive to see it.
    Enjoy and be blessed.

  10. Thank you for the words of encouragement to us in cold climates to keep our chins up this winter! I love your attitude. The past few days we've had a thaw, which has been very nice--it's a promise of spring. You are right that it is important to appreciate each and every day. Life is precious, and it will be over all too soon.

  12. Wise words, Debbie dear... we truly should try to have fun and enjoy every season of the year (and of our lives!!!) Here in South America we are having the hottest summer in years, and honestly sometimes I hate it; but today a refreshing summer storm came to give us some relief... so my Little Prince and I had a wonderful time dancing and playing in the rain! Thanks for sharing such positive thoughts, I always enjoy a lot reading your posts.
    Warmest hugs,
    K.
