Larger Ribbon!!

By Job, I think I've got it!
I think I've figured out how to get a more dimensional look to the ribbon embroidery!
Use larger ribbon!
I ordered 13mm to try, and what a difference it makes!

The buds, petals, stems and leaves stand up right off the fabric!
You notice all the detail on each piece so much more, too.

This piece was made with 4mm and 7mm ribbon.
Lots of detail, but it doesn't stand off the fabric as much.

These two pillows are an idea I came up with last week.
Since I do lavender sachets...why not do some with lavender designs?
Not much to look at....but a cute idea.
Happy Tuesday to you!

A little bling.

I added just a little bling around the antique desk in the corner of the living room.

This sweet crown has been moved all around the cottage, and today has landed next to one of my favorite clocks...sitting on the desk.

The two sacred hearts from Antique Farmhouse are now hanging above the desk.
This one with all of it's sparkly goodness, and secret compartment.
You can open the heart like a locket to hide treasures for someone to find if they are smart enough to figure out you can open the front of the heart.

I love the detail work on this heart.
No secrets...just pure loveliness.

That's it. Not a lot, but just enough.
I hung a few religious medals, crosses, and rosaries on the hooks of the hearts for a little more interest.

I will leave you with the bigger picture.....
That's it for now!
Have a fabulous weekend!!

Our little shabby bath.

The upstairs bathroom in our shabby cottage is very small.
There isn't a lot of room for much in the way of decorating.....

So I work around the shower curtain with pinks, and whites, and roses.

The size of this room is in keeping with the entire upstairs.
Both bedrooms are small in comparison to the downstairs.
They have attic type ceilings.....truly a cottage style home.

We like bead board type walls....for that "cottage" look.
I try to keep the shabby chic decor through out the upstairs with just a little French mixed in.

I have probably shared my tiny bathroom before.
Just in case you missed it....this is another look.
I trust your week is going well.
The weather here at Lakehouse has been gorgeous, and the forecast is for more of the same warm temps and sunshine for the next few days!
Enjoy!

Romantic Country Magazine!!!

Our little cottage is in Romantic Country magazine!
I've changed things up since the photo shoot, so it looks a little different since Fifi and Mark were here.
It's exciting to see our house in a decor magazine!

What a fun day that was! Watching Fifi and Mark working at what they do best.
I've seen random photo's of our home in other publications....but seeing it featured in Romantic Country really makes me smile.....big!!!

Dried flowers from the gardens.

Okay....this post has more photos than I've ever shared before.
The reason being....it involves one of my favorite things....flowers from my gardens.
Dried flowers.
I love the colors and textures of flowers as they dry.
Having flowers in the house during the long winter months, makes me feel like the gardens are still flourishing...and it gives my spirit a lift.
Enjoy.......

I hope I didn't bore you.
How could I leave these beauties outside, when they could be appreciated through the winter season...inside, with me?
Have a glorious Saturday!

My own little space.

I've been thinking....and thinking.
What can I do with this little space off the master bedroom.
I've always wanted a little space of my own for reading, and working on projects....like computer work, and sewing my sachets.

I've tried filling the space with different pieces of furniture, but was never happy with the way it looked.
It always felt like wasted space....you know?
So I got this bright idea to put my work table here.
It didn't fit.
I used a smaller table...viola!!!  Not my first choice, but it will do.
The printer, my sewing machine, computer, and some supplies...even a small bouquet of dried hydrangeas are here in this little area.

Being this is a cottage, our bedrooms are "attic" rooms with very slanted ceilings, and NO heat ducts up here.
In the cold winter months, we use this little faux fireplace for added warmth in our room.
Having my work-space in this little "addition" to the upstairs works out well since the fireplace  will be in this part of the bedroom.
I found this chair recently, and thought it would look nice in my little room.
It's very comfortable, and fits my bum perfectly!!!
I like having a space of my own. I used to work on my desk in the living room....meh....
(Hubby has a man cave....and is in there working on fishing poles, and cleaning guns, etc. He enjoys having a space for his "work stuff". I LOVE that he has a place for his "work stuff"!!)
Now the living room looks neater, and I won't worry about "things" being too accessible to little hands(if you know what I mean).
Even though it's small...it's my own little space, and I like that.
Life is good.
Have a nice weekend!

Practicing silk ribbon embroidery.

Hello.
I trust your holiday weekend is going well.
We had company for a couple of days.
The weather has been hot and humid.
After everyone left, I started working on more silk ribbon embroidery.

I'm still practicing on sachets.
I'm hoping to find a shop that sells supplies here in Michigan.
I don't want to have to keep ordering supplies online.
Enjoy your Labor Day!!
