Screen doors on bedrooms???

It's still too chilly to be working in the gardens, so we are working on the inside....waiting for the wood to arrive for the living room floor.
The upstairs hallway is VERY tiny.
Too open it up, and give it a "cottage" feel, I wanted to add screen doors to the bedrooms.
Plus, it will help with air circulation in the hot summer months.

The screen door is on, with the addition of a vintage table cloth for some added sweetness.

The Mister will be changing the wood trim around the screen door to match what is around the six panel door to the left (the bathroom door).

I had saved a drawer pull from one of the dressers from my girl's bedroom set, (when they were young).
I've been wanting to use it somewhere in the house, and this happened to be the perfect spot.
It now graces the door in the guest room...sigh.

The other room will also have a new screen door, and trim very soon.
I also have a pretty chandelier picked out for the hall.
One thing at a time.....

Screen doors on bedrooms aren't for everyone.
For me, it just adds to the "cottage charm" here at the Lakehouse.
I'd like to thank everyone for your prayers, and kindness during my illness.
I am on my way to wellness.
Blessings.

A short break.

I apologize for not responding to the kind comments left on the last post.
I will do that soon.
I will be away from my blog for a few more days.
I just returned home from the hospital due to an obstruction in the small intestines.
I have Crohn's Disease, and have had issues dealing with this disease in the past.
Thank you all for following this blog called Lakehouse.
I appreciate each and every one of you!
Have a wonderful week....and enjoy each new day!
Smooches.

Sweet Spring.

We are getting ready for Spring here at our cottage.
I found some window sashes to use for the cold frames in the garden this year, and saved this one for the window in the guest room.
I love the shabby, chippy appearance, and the old glass knob.

Hubby cleaned up the frames, re glazed the widows, and will paint the wood.
He kept this one raw after cleaning it up.
He knows how much I love the peeling paint on an old white sash.

I like the windows bright in the summer months....so off with the white panels that adorn the windows in the colder seasons! and here are the sweet strip garlands for those hot, glorious sunny days to come!

Nothing says "Welcome Spring", like soft pastels, and whites!
Old window sashes, ruffles, roses, and rag strip garlands help this old cottage look it's best for the coming weeks of warmth, sunshine, and the wonderful sounds of the songbirds......Sweet Spring.
Happy Sunday!

Ordered the wood flooring...and another RA quilt!

We ordered the wood for the flooring in the living room. It should be in by the end of the month.
The trim will be in at the same time.
Instead of the least expensive pine planks, we bumped up to the third best rated planks. Not as soft, so it won't dent and nick as easily. Plus, there is more of a grain that will show through after I white wash the floor.
After ordering the wood, we had lunch at Red Lobster, which was delish!!
On our way out of town, I steered the car into the TarJay parking lot...just to check out any new RA merchandise...and what do you know....

There just happened to be a lovely quilt that I'd never seen before!!!
The pink roses were divine, and the light blue reminded me of a summer sky.
The ruffles match a set of RA sheets that I just happen to have....hmmmm.
Into the cart went the quilt.

Just look how pretty it looks on the iron bed!

It's starting to look like a mini RA boutique in here, since my vintage cupboard is over flowing with Simply Shabby Chic quilts, duvets, pillow covers and shams, and all the sheet sets I've collected!!
Well....if I ever decide to open a Bed and Breakfast, I'll have all the bedding I need!
How fun would that be??!!
A girl can dream, can't she?
Zzzzzzzzz..........
