The roses are blooming!!!

Woohoo!!!
The roses are blooming!
There are a few different varieties here at the Lakehouse, and they are slowly starting to open...a few at a time.

The peonies are opening up, too!
The last ones will be the pink ones.
The whites smell just like hyacinths.
It smells like Easter in the cottage right now.

I am loving all the shades of pink roses!!
I noticed a yellow one was waking up when I got home from work today.
The New Dawn roses should be open in just a few more days.

We planted two lavender bushes this year.
I'm anxious for them to show themselves.
They are the most fragrant of roses, it seems.

Having flowers from the gardens in the house again just warms my heart.

I think, out of all of the roses in the gardens, this wild, yet delicate looking pink rose is one of my very favorites.
The fragrance is intoxicating, the color is glorious, and the shape is magnificent.
It's not exactly what most people think of when we talk about roses.....but to me, it's perfection.
As the days go on, there will be many more roses to come.....different colors, shapes, sizes, etc.
I LOVE this time of the year!!
Enjoy each day, and take time to smell the roses!!
Blessings.......
Debbie

  1. My roses are blooming too! It's always nice to see them come. I don't have different varieties like you do, only one large bush that blooms until the frost hits it in the fall. I love how you've displayed yours in the house. Such pretty settings for your beautiful roses.

  5. Hi Debbie, I live this time of year too when the roses are all in bloom. Your roses are lovely and I adore the peonies. Can't grow them here. I guess it's too hot. My mother had gorgeous peonies in Michigan. I remember them growing up and how beautiful they were.
I love your favorite rose too. Delicate and so pretty. Have a nice weekend. Blessings xo

  7. We have peonies at home and they always bloom while we're in KY and I miss them. Maybe I need to replant some at the lake?

Lavender... Hmmmm... would love to grow that at the lakehouse too. I'll have to check that out.

We have a neighbor at the lake who has hydrangea's and I want to start some cuttings from him in the fall. Maybe next year I will finally get around to some sort of flower garden at the lake. Wish I had your knack and talent. Enjoy your weekend sweetie-pie. xo

  10. And Pink suits you well, love the graceful pettles of those lipstick pinks. I bet your lakeside cottage is scented beautifully these days. I must fill some vases today, I am feeling a bit flower less in my home after my visit here with you!

See you and your gentle beauty soon enough.

  11. Hi Debbie. I just love all of your pretty roses in your home. There is nothing better than filling your rooms with fresh blooms and scents. The roses bloom early here on the Carolina Coast and everything else struggles to survive the heat. So, my roses have to come from the grocery store.
Hope you are enjoying the summer.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  13. We think alike Debbie; an appreciation for all the beauty that blesses us from our gardens and what better way to stretch the love than bring blooms inside.
I like to fill separate little vases as opposed to one big one with whatever is flowering.
    Happy Gardening!

  17. Hi Debbie...how wonderful for your roses to be blooming at last, l agree it always seems such a long wait after winter and the sheer joy of seeing each precious bud unfold is heaven. l really love how beautifully you've styled your selection of blooms in it's own vignette...It must be fantastic to have peonies flowering in the garden and l can't wait for you to show us the pink ones.

  18. How fabulous to grow your own blooms like those!!! One of the bad sides of living down here is that summer is really too hot for that. Enjoy!
