Happy New Year!

Fierce winds are blowing here at the Lakehouse.
The weather has taken a turn for the worse.
It's nothing compared to what has transpired for the folks south, I'm sure.
With loss of life due to storms, and tornadoes.
What a horrific holiday season for so many.

Losing power for four days is nothing in comparison.
We spent the holidays with family three hours south of here, and cherished every moment.

My middle daughter and family gifted me with the two large candle jars on the mantle, and this pretty knob that holds this JDL scarf for Christmas.
All fitting presents for the Lakehouse decor.

The Jessica Simpson bedding has already found a new home with my 14 year old granddaughter, Maddie.
The colors just didn't "fit" here for my taste.
I thought it would be a nice "change" for the winter season....but it just wasn't "me".
The RA bedding suits my style, and makes my heart sing.

Jessica Simpson's bedding is beautiful!
I'm just more comfortable with the RA line, I guess.
So....the ruffles and roses are back, and I'm a happy girl.
Sometimes....staying with what we know is a good thing.....the grass isn't always greener....ya know what I mean?

Happy New Year everybody!
Smooches.
Debbie

  1. Debbie, It's cold and rainy here...suppose to be with this weather this evening. I am tired of it. But as you said we really should not complain . Praying for those that lost so much during this past week's crazy weather. Their lives are forever changed.
I just know your teen granddaughter must be loving her new bedding. LOL. I bought a cheap little set of bedding at kohl's this year. Well it wasn't cheap to start with...it was marked down and I had 30 % off. That makes it easier for me to say...I hate it. Not my colors or design. I will be getting a newer set soon. I do like my new pillows I bought this year.
I love the things your daughter got you . The mantle looks so pretty all candle lit. Blessings to you and yours for a great New Year. I am praying we can have peace and good health . xoxo,Love you, Susie

  2. Debbie,
We are getting freezing rain and snow mix today. Roads are horrible. Winter has reared it's ugly head today. Staying in where it is warm and comfy. Just wanted to wish you a very Happy New Year.

  5. Debbie,
The fury of Mother Nature oftentimes is unbelievable cruel destruction, my prayers are with all those trying to cope and deal with the aftermath. The glow of candlelight on your mantel is beautiful and your Christmas gifts pretty. I am glad your family had a gathering and enjoyed each other's company and love on Christmas. I understand completely about the bedding ... I can't venture into anything but white sheets, they comfort and always feel right.
On Christmas in Philadelphia it was 73 and raining, it's now reality and winter is moving in with a storm approaching. Such extreme weather patterns, stay warm and safe. Wishing you a happy New Year filled with much joy.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  6. Your mantel is so gorgeous, and it gives me a sense of peace. Yes, the loss of life is a tragedy, especially hard this time of year. I'm sorry you lost your power, but it sounds like it was nice to get away too. It has been so cold here, unusually cold, but I can't complain, because I don't like the heat. :) My plants are wrapped with Christmas trees lights underneath and most of the citrus picked. I think it is sweet that the comforter set went to your Granddaughter. I'm sure she will love it. Merry Christmas and blessings this New Year.

  7. Glad you got to spend some wonderful days during Christmas with your family. I'm sure your granddaughter will love the bedding. I agree sometimes we just need to stick with what we know and love. I haven't switched anything around here for quite some time but it works for me so I'm content. Slowly now I'll begin the undecorating ...slowly. Your candles on the mantle are lovely and can bridge the seasons. Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year !

  9. HI Debbie, Mother Nature is the worst sometimes, and bad weather is just plain old bad weather if it's not what you are prepaired for. As I write you I just got through sitting through one of our EARTH QUAKES !! Yes heart beating, me sitting alone here and trying to distract myself from the thought of another one rolling in.

Your R/A bedding is you my dear, and I know how hard you tried to like the J/S bedding with its Boho tone and vibe.... As much as I would love change I feel you here with the mood it just did not offer you, and I often try to change something and go right back to my old self. You just have to do what the heart wants.

Love that your Maddie is enjoying it... And I know without a doubt you made her day!

Love seeing the glow of your giftings.

A Happy New year to you my dear.

    Xx

  10. The weather is indeed frightful but the glow from the candles in your home is so warming. Just what I love about winter in our area. I can't bear to take down our tree and lights!

I know what you mean about the bedding. It's so hard for me to find what 'fits', I'm very fussy. Hw great you could gift the bedding to your sweet girl.

Happy New Year to you, my friend. Cheers to 2016!

  11. Your mantle and candles are just so pretty, Debbie! I think of you whenever I seen pretty mercury glass:) We had wild weather here too the other day. I've not had the news on lately, but I've heard of all the storms and lost lives this past week. How sad. I am so with you on the bedding. While it was pretty, I know it just wasn't you. I love your shabby white look so much better too, and am glad that your other bedding, as pretty as it was, found a happy new home:)
Wishing you and Jim a very happy and healthy New Year!
    hugs and love to you!!

  14. I do like the RA bedding better in your guest room. The softness is just right. I have the same JDL scarf and loved wearing it during the holidays with the JDL rose shoulder bag. Everything is so pretty. Happy New Year xx
