Daydreaming

Hello everyone.
I hope you are having a good Tuesday.

I went through the crinkled seam binding, and vintage tags I use on the pillows I make with the lace and linens I collect.

I grouped some of the colors together, and decided to hang some of the lighter ones on Mannie.

She said she feels kind of like a gypsy....almost a little wild with those pastel locks flowing down her shoulder.

It's always fun to dream a little...isn't it?

Found some pretties....

I had a wonderful day today.
I finally had enough money saved to pick up the rose dishes I found at the little "cottage shop" at the other side of the lake.
I got side-tracked on my way, however.

There is this sweet little garden shop that has lovely statuary pieces, and gorgeous roses.
I have always loved this darling little girl....and since she was only $30.00 , how could I leave her just standing there in the heat???

There was no tag on this Chicago Peace Rose. All the rest of the roses were marked $23.99, and I thought this one would be the same price. When I brought it to the counter, and the clerk couldn't find a tag, she asked how $14.99 sounded.  I blinked my eyes, and smiled, and said, "oh just fine".
So...I left the garden shop, and headed to pick up my dishes.

Before I even entered the store I saw these beautiful vintage iron pieces sitting on a table outside!!!!
They look as if someone sawed them off from an iron gate, or old trellis?
I don't know what I will do with them yet...but I think they are soooo pretty!
For just $10.00 a piece, I think I got a great deal!!

These are the dishes I went to pick up.
It's a service for six.
I love the little pink roses

I purchased some extra pieces, because Mr. L doesn't do well with pretty dishes, and I use my pretty dishes a lot.
(I'm sure if I see this pattern, I'll be sure to pick pieces up at other shops, or markets).
That was my day....I had fun, and got some good deals!
I'm very happy with the things I found, and so glad I was finally able to bring home the vintage dishes.
Hope you have a fun weekend everyone!!!

Practice makes perfect...NOT!

When you were young, did you have to practice the piano, or take dance lessons?
Did you love it? or hate it?

Did you have band practice?
Did your mom make you sit in your room, and practice whatever it was you were trying to learn, while your friends were outside playing in the summer sun...or running through the sprinkler, or enjoying a refreshing glass of Koolaid?

Sally would ride around the block on her bike, and stop at my house each time around to yell up at my window....are you done yet?
Each time I'd yell down the stairs, can I be done? and my mother would yell back up those stairs...keep going!!!   ugh.

And what did all of that practicing get me????
As an aerobics instructor (about one hundred years ago) it benefited me with some graceful moves, I guess.
Now? about the only job I might be able to get is a stand in for the dancing hippo for Disney's "Fantasia".
That's if they could find a tutu big enough to fit me.

Oh yeah, and some nice pictures using the toe shoes for my blog once in a while.
Hey Sally, I can ride bikes now.

Still planting roses.

I recently took a stroll through Bella's rose gardens...sigh.
I must say...Bella has the most beautiful gardens ever.
I wish I could physically walk through her gardens, but going there through her blog is the next best thing.

Bella has SO many gorgeous roses!
She knows the names of each, and every one of them!

I recently started planting roses.
I've been so inspired by the people here in blog-land.
There are some climbing roses on the arbors, that I hope will clamber over the tops in the near future.

My favorite colors are the light pinks, and white roses.
They seem to be the most fragrant.
I did buy some pretty salmon colored climbers too.

I really should learn the names of the roses I've planted, shouldn't I.
For now, I'm just enjoying walking through the yard looking at all of them, and taking in their scent.
The white ones in the cottage garden are my favorite ones of all the roses here. They are so fragrant!! I will take a picture of them for another post. I am waiting for the New Dawn climber to bloom. Mr. L. bought it for me, and planted it on the front entrance arbor to the cottage garden last week. I was so happy to return from my trip from down-state, and see the climbing rose bush planted next to the arbor!! He knows I'm crazy about roses lately...so he wanted to have something special to surprise me with when I got home...awwww.
Time to hang some sheets on the line.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

How I feel about blogging.

It's been a lovely Sunday afternoon here at the Lakehouse.
It's one of those days that brings a joyful feeling to your heart.
So, today....I would like to share with you why I enjoy blogging.
So many of you have left such encouraging comments, and I really appreciate all of your kind words.

I especially appreciate the prayers that have been said for me, and my family those times when I had some serious health issues.
I've kept all of the cards, and the letters that I received.
Every once in awhile I take them out, and read each one.

It still amazes me the way everyone here rallied around...and even made a prayer banner(that's you Tete!!) for someone they barely knew.
You people did more for me spiritually, and emotionally than most of our family members did.
I thank God for you all.

I feel I've connected with a few bloggers on a very personal level.

I never imagined this would be anything more than a "hobby" for me.

This is a place where we can share decorating, and gardening ideas with others..without feeling intimidated, or silly.
People here are encouraging, and offer suggestions without making you feel lowly. It's a place for the inexperienced to gather ideas, and actually get step by step instructions for projects!!
People are happy to share how to make a pretty pillow for your bed! or how to dry flowers for an everlasting bouquet!

They don't expect you to know how to set a "proper" table..they just want to see what pretty table setting you have to share with the rest of us.
Whether it all matches, or it's all mixed up!!
The same goes with gardening.
It doesn't matter if you're a master gardener, or a first time gardener.
We all love flowers here...and if you need some help, all you need to do is ask.
That's what is nice about the blog-world. People are happy for you when you accomplish your dreams. They encourage you along your journey. They pray when you need it. They send you cards, and even little presents to cheer you up, or "just because". Best of all...they understand.
It's a great place to be a part of.
Some days you might feel the need to put things in perspective concerning "blogging", and that's okay.
Most days, you just enjoy being a part of a community that cares about you, and knows how to give you some blove.(blog-love)according to Nana-Diana.
I'm sure most of you know all of this already....just wanted to let you know how I felt.
Hugs to you!!!!

Vacation week

This sure has been a whirl wind of a summer, hasn't it?!
I'm sad to think the fourth of July has come and gone already.
I desperately wish it would slow down.
I am enjoying the flowers this year like never before.
I'm slowly working on the rose garden next to one of  the arbors.

The Hens n Chicks from my oldest daughter's gardens are doing well along the walkway, in front of the newest rose bush....a Pink Double Knock Out Rose.

Monday
I went with my three girls and their families to Michigan Adventure, and Water Park.
This is our fifth year.
Mr. L couldn't go. He had to work.
The grandkiddos LOVE it! and so do the adults! We all enjoy the coasters, and water slides, and bumper cars, and boats. We get there at opening time, and don't leave until closing time.
The next evening I went to see "Wicked" with the girls....after we had a nice dinner out.
The next day I headed home with Maddie, and Charlotte in tow. The day after that, their mom(Melissa) came up with Olivia. They all headed back home about an hour ago.
It's been a busy week for me..but a very enjoyable one.
Monday it's back to work at the pharmacy.
It's been a great vacation week!
Now it's time to strip beds, do some laundry, hang sheets on the line, and sweep the sand off the floors.
I wonder if there's time to go to the greenhouse and find another rose bush? hmmm.....
