A Gentle Thunder.

There are many reasons God saves you: to bring glory to Himself, to appease His justice, to demonstrate His sovereignty. But one of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He is fond of you. He likes having you around. He thinks you are the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while....

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.  Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart...

Face it, friend, He's crazy about you.

(A Gentle Thunder by Max Lucado.)
I do not think it was coincidence that I picked up this book and turned to this page just before I started to write my post for today.
Someone needed to hear this. I truly believe that.
I haven't read this little book for a long time!  I cannot believe I would just happen to turn to the page that says March 10th, either.
For whoever He is speaking to....be blessed. I know I was when I read it.

  5. So beautiful Debbie, both the words and the pics. Several years ago I bought a vintage chenille blanket online, when we moved here to FL we went through a really awful time with a family member and it was a very difficult time for me. We were staying at this family member's house while we were looking for a place of our own and, for some reason, I unpacked the blanket even though I hadn't unpacked anything else. When I unfolded it, pinned to the back of it was a piece of paper with the price on it...I thought wow, I've had this for a couple of years now and had no idea there was a pin in it! So I unpinned the piece of paper and when I turned it over, it was a little calendar page that had some of the words from the hymn "I know not what awaits me":
I know not what awaits me,
    God kindly veils my eyes,
And o’er each step of my onward way
    He makes new scenes to rise;
And every joy He sends me comes
    A sweet and glad surprise.

I'd never heard it before so I looked up the entire hymn online and it brought me such deep comfort. I still have the little piece of paper on my magnet board in the kitchen and will never get rid of it!

  7. Max Lucado does have a way with words and they have made a great difference in my life. I've read many of his books. They are all very encouraging. They say everything happens for a reason and I do truly believe that. We just need to have faith and believe.

  14. Blessings Debbie,
Your the best thing that came down the pike! This is words worth holding on to. We here have been in prayer over a very dear friend of ours....she is battling bone cancer. I was working with her on designs in her shabby cottage shop and noticed strange movement in her, I've known her far to many years to not notice, so I took over and started to create leaving her to rest with what she said was her ongoing back problem to only land her in emergency 6 weeks later paralyzed in movement. She is one of Gods children and her faith in him is what's keeping her focused on a healing.

This was a much needed post, and for me to happen on by at this moment to hear these words was perfect. I am passing your post onto her, she does not blog but reads them.

    Blessings to you and yours.

    Xx
