Lace, linens, and doilies.

Whew....It's 90 wonderful degrees at our cottage on the water today, and I'm loving it!
I spent the afternoon soaking up all the sun I could get.
Before going outside, I washed some linens that I recently found at an antique mall that was closing.

It's a treat to find vintage dresser, and piano scarves.

There was a pile of doilies of all sizes.

I've had this Irish table cloth for awhile, but the ironstone sugar bowl was found at the mall, and makes a great spooner.

This piece makes a lovely table runner.

I've had this piece for quite some time, but always love to show it off.

Aren't these vintage tie backs neat?

More doilies to add to the stack.

I'm always on the lookout for pillow cases that are in rough shape.
I cut off the boarder, and use them on my shelves.

Since this window has no curtain, adding just a small piece of an old table cloth that I had cut, (salvaging pieces to use here and there) it dressed the window "just enough".
This is just a small sampling of the doilies, lace, and linens here at the lakehouse.
I don't know why I love them so. I have since I was a young girl.
They are draped, and layered in every room of the cottage.
Each piece is so pretty....and helps make this old cottage feel like home sweet home.

  1. Oh, goodness! What a wonderful collection! I love how they look draped throughout your home so you can enjoy seeing them all the time. My mother was very big on dresser scarves and doilies under lamps, she seemed to have something on every surface. She gave me several dresser scarves and I just don't remember what happened to them. I'd love to find them just for those memories.

So, you were out soaking up the sun in 90 degree temps??! I stayed in today after thinking I had heat stroke yesterday. It was 97 and I worked hard outside for 4 hours straight. I really overdid it and felt awful. Today I took a break!

  2. You have a special touch when creating beautiful vintage looking vignettes, Debbie. Everything looks so sweet! While you were soaking up that hot sunshine today, I was doing the same thing Jane was....hiding out inside in the AC. lol I'm looking forward to some nice, crisp, cool weather this weekend so I can do some planting in the garden! :)

  3. One of the main things I always carried in my booths were linens. I love to wash and iron them...crazy huh?
Love yours. You keep that hot weather up there a bit. We only have one more day of it, then the 70s again! 98 is a bit warm for us here. My birds have all flown away...too hot and too dry.
Did you see where Nana Diana brushed her teeth with butt cream? If you missed her post this morning, you have to go read it!

  4. Love old linens, doilies and lace - always have. My collection is really too large but I just can't resist when I see a good buy on them.

    I am your newest follower.

  5. Hi Debbie,
Your linens are outstandingly beautiful, and the way you have them all displayed is delightful. I love old white lace and linens. Simply gorgeous :)
    Thanks for sharing.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  6. I'm a sucker for doilies too, I think it's the thought of the work that went into crocheting them:@)

  7. Everything you do is always so pretty and perfect!
