Phloofing....

Yesterday was a day of phloofing here at the lakehouse.
I took the last of the snowy twigs off the mantle, and replaced them with urns, and my favorite votive cups.

A chair was delivered on Friday, so furniture was moved around to make room for the new addition.
An ottoman was also delivered.
I made a cover out of an old grain sack that was saved for this piece....it's not professional...but it works here at Lakehouse.

After owning a shop, it's really difficult for me to NOT dress my home like a store.
I'm so used to having lots of "stuff" around me, I tend to decorate my home like I'm dressing a display window!!

I try to decorate tastefully, but sometimes the only thing missing are price tags!
When cutting back, it seems something else ends up taking up the space.
Like the iron crib.
Does it really need a garden bench in front of it?!
The wire cloche looks rather whimsical with the bunny, don't you think?
ugh.

(Notice the smaller wire cloche recently added to the shelf above the crib)....
I JUST CAN'T STOP MYSELF, I TELL YOU!!!!
Oh well, we all have our little problems....right?
What can I say, I'm a collector. Of many things.
At least I'm not a hoarder! I know that, because you can still see my floors! They are underneath all the furniture...and some dust, and cat hair.
Yep...life is good....maybe a little crowded, but good.
Have a happy week!
Debbie

  2. I think everything in your home looks wonderful. When you're a collector you do have display what you love. Many of my things have been put away simply because of little hands that would make fast work of it all. Grand children have made a difference here and one corner is just for them...toys and table and chairs mini size.

  3. I hear everything you say Debbie,
I for many years being a shop owner in interior designs as well as starting out in the field of interior designs had to hold back from staging every piece I had as if I was decorating one of my model homes homes for various developers. It's such a hard habit to break Debbie when we have had years of staging in our fields of designs and retailing.
Your new chair will break in beautifully adding the warmth and beauty to your cozy lakehouse cottage. Love your cozy home, and what's inportant in your gathering and collecting, adding or taking away its your home of shelter is your place that inspires your heart and the many you touch with all you inspire.

A beauty and grace this February month of love.

    Xx

  4. Debbie,
Phloofing... love the term. I too love to fluff our nest. Your new chair is absolutely stunning, beautiful addition in your pretty home. Debbie I think you have a very keen eye in decorating your home and the fact you keep a tone on tone look your layering just adds to the visual impact of prettiness. I would of loved to have strolled through your store when you had it.
Enjoy your new chair, lovely, lovely, lovely.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  5. Hi Debbie, Love the phloofing you did in your gorgeous cottage. I hear ya about the displaying just minus the price tags. I had my shop, inside several shops for years and I used to pack it full, but in a decorative way. I have to be careful I don't over do my home vignettes. You are so very talented and I love each and every detail you add. I can only imagine how wonderful your shop was.
    Love your chair too.
    Have a great week.
    Hugs, CM

  12. Debbie, I had to laugh! If all it takes is seeing your floors to make you not a hoarder, then I am so relieved. What if you can't see your table tops, does that change the game? Your space is always beautiful!..Happy Weekend..Judy
