Christmas memories.

The memories from Christmas are still fresh in my mind.
The parties.....so many parties.
Family.
Laughter.
Gifts from the heart.
Time spent with the people that mean so much to me.

Sitting in front of the fire, with the Christmas lights on, listening to Christmas music.
Appreciating the Reason for the season.
Basking in the Joy of the holidays.
Holding on to the moments, one at a time.
It all goes by so quickly.....so quickly....you cannot relive the moments.
They are fleeting.
Then, they are gone.

Christmas morning you get the news.
A young family member is gone.
A life cut short.
No advance notice. No note. No illness.
Found Christmas Eve.
Leaving a young wife, and two babies...…..shattered.
A whole family, lost and torn to pieces.

How can you make sense of what people choose to do?
Who can answer the "why"?
The ripple effect from one act goes out farther than what anyone can imagine.
It's just too overwhelming to try to figure out.
So where will we find healing?

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me;  for I am meek, and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light .Matt. 11:28-30.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phillip. 4:7
Through all of the grief, the questions, the confusion....there is one constant.....The ONE that understands the pain.  The One that never leaves us ,nor forsakes us.
As we move on from the holidays, and family members slowly heal from the loss of their loved one, hopefully we will keep each other lifted up in prayer.
Love to all.
Debbie

  1. I suffered the loss of a nephew a few years ago. The pain doesn't go away you learn to live with it but throughout the Lord will sustain you if you reach out and ask. You are in my prayers.

  8. So sorry to read of the loss of a loved one. It is so hard to understand this type of loss. I have lost a nephew in the recent past, and was actually texting him the day of with no response. I think your scripture above and also, "Let not your heart be troubled", is something we have to reach out to for peace. I wish all of the Family peace during this shock and bereavement time. So sad. Have a blessed 2020.

  10. I'm glad you had such a special Christmas season Debbie. It's true that the passage of the season goes so very quickly, all the special moments looked forward to, are here and then gone, but they are treasured deep within the heart. I can't even imagine the horror for the family who experienced such loss on Christmas Eve! Such a tragic and sad event. This family will be in my prayers. We never know the depth of despair that lies in a heart. May we be always kind to those around us, as we don't know what trials they are facing. A sobering situation, and my heart and prayers go out to this family, who like Diana said, will forever remember Christmas with this sad memory. You shared beautiful comforting verses, and it is only with our Lord's help that one can get through such a difficult circumstance. Prayers for you, and for your family!

  11. Hi Debbie. How fun to have the Lake life and to be able to share it with your grand kids. That is really special. I am so envious of your life in your sweet cottage on the lake. Time seems to fly by as we get older and all the cherished memories we can make with our family and friends is the best. Loved seeing your little birds. They look so happy in your lake house. Happy Thursday.
    Hugs,
    Kris
