Auntie Em!!!

Hello everyone! I've been sick the past week, so haven't been on the computer for awhile. The lack of electricity from some horrific wind storms here in Michigan didn't help matters.  At the Mackinaw Bridge the wind was clocked at 78 mph.  We had gusts over 60 mph here at the lakehouse.
We watched as the ducks would glide by on the water...backwards! The wind just kept pushing them past....reminded me of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz looking out her window as the tornado lifted her house, and she saw people and animals go by.
One of the arbors and some fencing was damaged. Hubby will be working to clean up that mess today.
I've had an awful cold and flu bug for a few days. I wonder how bad it would have been without my flu shot!!!
The power returned last night for most areas around the lake. The sound of generators has quieted down, and the wind has diminished considerably. We are fortunate to have a pellet stove, so we just hunkered down with quilts and sat in front of the fire.
It's good to be back online again.
Hope all is well with you!
Hugs....
Debbie

  2. So sorry to hear you have been sick Debbie! I am so glad you are safe from the bad storms in your area too. NC was hit with some tornadoes but luckily nothing here in Charlotte! Take care and rest up!

  3. I was so glad to hear from you, knowing the lake could have swallowed you whole. I heard on the news that 20 tornadoes were spawned out of that front that went through.
So happy you are still there and not in Cananda!
Sorry for the ducks, but glad you had that pellet stove. People in the north know how to survive without power.
We had a parlor stove in Ohio and it came in handy many times.
My son and I have this stupid cold that will not go away and he sounds like his is going deep in his chest.
Hope you are feeling better and getting over this dreaded stuff that is going around!
    Hugs- Tete

  12. Hope you are feeling better, Debbie. I had the flu AND pneumonia shot. So far, so good.

Sorry about your pretty arbor. Wasn't the wind bad? I got really nervous several times but we personally didn't have much damage. I hope things get back to normal for you soon.

Happy Halloween! Will you see the grandkids?

    XO,

  18. Hi Debbie, So sorry that you've been sick! We missed you! Hope you are feeling better soon! Too bad about your arbor. Wow, those are some really strong winds. We had them here, too, now all is calm. I sure wouldn't want to be crossing the bridge in that crazy weather! Take care!

  19. Hi Debbie- I am so sorry that you have been sick. The truth is you probably got a flu that is different than the shot you got....seems that is what happens to people. I refused the shot at the hospital. In all these years of working there (knock on wood) I have NEVER had the flu...hardly even a cold. I have a whacked immune system so that probably helps! I'm glad that you are feeling better now. I'm thinking you were off work this week then? One more day for me and then I am off Sunday...and then hit a full work week on Monday again. So much for the new and improved schedule.

Debbie-that is awful about your fence/arbor. I hope it can be repaired easily. We are like you and we broke all records for highest wind speeds ever recorded (at a sustained level) in WI. It is still windy but nothing like it was.

Hope you finish getting well this weekend~ Hugs xxoo Diana

That sure was some storm! We got it here in Ohio too and there was a tornado that touched down about an hour north of us...very scary!!
    Have a good weekend.

  21. I'm so glad you're o.k. Tete was really worried. She keeps up on everyone on a daily basis better than me and she was really concerned. I know what it's like not to have power and the high winds(it's super scary!!!!). We have a wood stove now too and it makes it a little bit better, but no electricity is no fun and no blogging too-glad you're back up and doing fine!
