Brrrrrr....

Holey moley....it's so cold this morning!  The next few mornings the temps are going to be at, or below freezing!!! If this keeps up, we'll have a skim of ice on the water before you know it.  I just got acclimated to Fall....I'm NOT ready for any ice, or white stuff like they are predicting for Wednesday morning.....eeeeeek!!!
It IS a  beautiful morning, even with the cold.  People around the lake are getting their boats ready for winter. You can see the bright blue shrink wrapped covers all over the place.
We've lost a lot of leaves already. The geese are all grouped up, and taking off daily. They migrate during the night, so we hear them fly over the house in the middle of the night...honking as they go. They fly pretty low over the water, so it's awesome to hear them as we lay in bed.
It's so beautiful, and crisp.  I'm bringing out sweaters, and heavy socks, quilts, and flannel sheets. We even have a fire going in the evenings now.
I appreciate the flickers of light bouncing off the water, and dancing on the walls and ceilings...because I know it won't be long, and the dancing will be gone for a while.
Before going to work, I'm going to sit and enjoy all the images of this wonderful Autumn morning here at the lakehouse.
Enjoy your day.
Debbie

  1. Your weather is so similar to our own, Debbie! I was just thinking this morning that we should have one more bonfire with the kids before the last of the leaves are gone. I love Fall at the Lake-we won't freeze over for quite a while here yet...and they keep the shipping channel open most of the winter.

Hugs to you-glad you are not working today and can enjoy this lovely Fall day. Last day of freedom for me and then I am back "at it" for SEVEN days in a row-sigh....Happy Day sweet friend. Diana

  2. Yep, its getting colder! We'll have to clean up the yard about 3 more times! Living in the woods is so difficult this time of year, but I sure love it!!! Plenty of acorns for the squirrels too - more than I've seen in the past 7 years!

  4. I love your photos, Debbie! It's not that cold down here yet, but I know that it's coming soon! I am thinking of putting the flannel sheets on the bed, too! And we have a nice cozy fire going right now. Anything to delay turning on the furnace (and saving on the heating bill, too!).
    Have a great day!

  5. My what pretty pictures. I would frame that 2nd one. LOVE it. I am currently in Colorado & though it is very pretty here, it has nothing on Michigan for color.
Stay warm, & I am hoping for at least one more nice Michigan weekend when we get back.

  7. The pictures out your windows are just beautiful, Debbie. You've really captured the fall feeling. So when you mentioned 'white stuff', were you talking about frost or snow?!! I think we are going to the lake for sure this weekend. I never got a chance to pick my tomatoes and I wonder if a neighbor did for me...it would be a shame if they all just died. And we have all the toys in the water still. SO...a lot of work. I can't wait to see the changing leaves and the geese and all the fun stuff though. And buy my mums!

Take care and have a lovely weekend!

    XO,
    Janie

  11. Hey- read this this morning and thought I had left a comment- getting old.
Love your lake photos. Window peeping from the inside is so much fun!
I can't believe you have snow in your forecast already! I just turned the ac back on.
We have no bright colors here because its so dry. We have yellow and brown. I hate years like this.
Wait until you see winter here.
    Yuck!
    Have a great day!

  13. Hey sis! Absolutely beautiful photos today, girl! :) Aren't the colors this year just spectacular? I think it's because it's been such a dry fall. I can't believe you're going to get SNOW next week? Yikes!!!! I have so many leaves on the ground down here right now....it gives me the heeby geebies. I can hardly wait to get out there and start blowing. My Sat and Sun will consist of that to be sure..... Have a wonderful weekend, girly! Muuuuwa!

  16. Looks like Fall scenery out your window is beautiful. Its still warm here in south florida - but not as humid so that is a good thing!!!

  17. I love Fall and everything looks so pretty up there at the lake! After our Indian summer of 90 degress for a few days...it is now getting cool here in south-western Ohio. Some of the trees are losing their leaves and others are just now getting their beautiful colors. I've been digging out my sweaters and sweatshirts too.
