Farewell August.
The flowers in the gardens are turning brown.
They are drying up, and going to seed.
It's time to pull, prune, and divide.
The window boxes are spindly and dry.
Most of the containers will be emptied, and cleaned out, or filled with mums.
For me....it's a bittersweet time of year.....I LOVE Summer.
When the temps cool down, the roses start to come back for a few weeks.
That's the sweet part.
I will be able to bring them inside, and fill containers with them until the first frost hits.
I've been cutting the hydrangeas as well.
They are perfect for drying this time of year.
We are in for a warm up for the holiday weekend. That will be nice for the people coming up to the lake to celebrate the end of Summer.Enjoy your week!

Debbie, Your pictures are so pretty and do make us think of the end of summer, when we pick the last of the flowers to enjoy indoors. I have always thought that the Labor Day weekend as the end of summer. People usually get their boats in off the lakes. At least they can b-b-q and play outdoors this weekend. Blessings to you sweet friend, love you, Susie

ReplyDeleteNew follower from GFC. I am a Autumn person so I am delighted that our hot dry summer is almost over. I love summer too but I am so ready for cooler temps and no more fires. Nice to meet you, and you have a lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteI love those pink jars. Tomorrow I will be going out and cleaning up the garden. In a few weeks I will be dividing up some plants and hopefully next year they will have taken root. I miss the summer, but love the fall.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers, the jars, the pictures are dreamy. The romantic atmosphere of these shots and of your home are just gorgeous.

I just love your pink mason jars and gorgeous pink roses, Debbie! It is hard to believe September is already here! It is hot and looks like summer will be around for awhile longer. I usually am sad to see it end, but this year I am more than ready for it to be over! Hope you are doing ok. Sending you a big hug!

Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteLove those pink jars they are fabulous. I am a summer girl but this week we are in the low to high 90's a little too hot for me. Loved last week in the low 80's and no humidity.
My roses are really blooming this month. Loving looking out at them and they are so full of blooms. Have a great rest of the week and wonderful week end.
Kris
Your roses are so very pretty in the pink jars, Debbie! Enjoy every bloom you are able to trim while you can! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteDebbie loving your roses in the Pink mason jars. I have the Blue mason jars and haven't seen the Pink. What pretty roses from your garden. Philadelphia is experiencing a true Indian Summer ... Today was 93, tomorrow will be 92 and Thursday 94. September is my birth month and I embrace the gentle easing into Autumn my favorite season BUT with temps in the 90's it's just been way too hot and still feels like another Summer day.

Things are going to seed here too. My little rose bush is full of blooms once again though. It always amazes me and reminds me always to take time to stop and smell the roses. It is hot here and I think that being at the lake this time of year has to be wonderful. Most public beaches and pools will be closing after this coming weekend. It is wonderful the weather is going to make it possible for all to enjoy one final hurrah to summer !
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, those pink roses in pink jars! Such delicious photography! Yum :)
