Old window sashes

Hello everyone~~~I trust you all had a fabulous holiday weekend. The lakehouse was bustling with energy. Kids and grand kids were here. We all had a wonderful time together. Sparklers, fireworks, sun, sand, boat rides, swimming, campfires, tubing...you name it, we did it!! Now it's time to clean up...hanging bed linens out on the line, sweeping off the boat, sucking sand out of the rugs, etc. So worth all the work.

Now for my sashes.

We have those ugly slide windows. I've always loved the look of vintage sashes...the grungier the better. Love the chippy painted wood, old hardware, and misty look of the glass. I've had four that are similar, and wanted to put them in the dining room windows. They only cover half of the window, but I like the way it adds character to each one.

When I cleaned them up...I left the grunge in the corners...gives them an old shabby shed kind of look.
For the two windows in the guest room, I added the three panel sashes. It looks cute with the vintage iron bed, and other pieces I've decorated with.

For the big window in the living room, I used two... four paned sashes. I can sit here at the computer, blogging, and look out my new/old/old window. This morning a lone seagull decided to leave a little something on the window....nice. I guess that's a perk with living on the water.

My whole family thinks I've gone crazy with the whole "white" look in here. Then adding the sashes really iced the cake. My son in laws said they would have thrown the things in the trash pile! That's okay.....I would have picked them OUT of a trash pile.

What's that old saying??? to each, his own?

I sincerely hope that everyone of you enjoyed the festivities over the 4th of July weekend.

I was blessed beyond words.

Big hugs,

Debbie

  8. I love your sashes, they add character to the rooms.
I especially enjoyed reading your post. I think my family has decided I have gone over the edge with the "white thing." I get the eye rolls but that's o.k.
I'm new to the vintage-white addiction...bought a beach condo in the fall and am loving decorating it in white vintage.

  11. Debbie, don't worry you are not ALONE in your love for white! I too have a family that thinks my whites are extreme and do not understand. Why do I have plates on my living room wall, we eat in the kitchen they want to know. I THINK but do not ask, why do YOU have dolphins on your walls. mmmmm, to each their own is right. Keep up with the white, there are many who love it. I happen to like the addition of the windows, chippy and all!
