Shades of White

Cockleshells, lilies of the valley, sheets drying in the sun. There are as many shades of white as there are clouds in the sky. -Claire Whitcomb

Hello everyone~~~my post tonight is going to be shared with Faded Charm for White Wednesday, and also with Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

I am sharing the creamy white of Queen Anne's Lace, and the ivory white of my stoneware platter, and the stark white of the table linens. It's amazing how many different shades of "white" there really are.
Most consider Queen Anne's Lace to be a weed...but I love the lacey flower heads that grace

the long slender stems. Also, the delicate foliage that is so airy and sweet smelling.

I think it adds a Victorian feel to the table set with crystal pieces, and white linens.

While sitting on the sun porch this evening, drinking some lemon water, and watching the gulls sweep overhead...I thought about how much the table looked like one we sat around while in Deuville, at the Normandy beaches of France.

What a sweet memory for me.

I thought about the sea, and salt air. Low tide in the evening. Jellyfish, and seashells...and sand.

As I sit, and watch another gull soar over the water, I am thankful for this little piece of Heaven. This place where we live....the lakehouse.

It's not the ocean, or the sea....but it's still a peaceful home on the water...and I love it here.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do.

Debbie

  5. Oh Debbie,
Yours is a peaceful view for certain. I would love to live so close to the water one day, you are truly blessed! We live just 40 mins from the ocean and don't take enough time to go and see its beauty, may have to take a trip soon. Hope your week is going well. Love your tablescape and Queen Anne's Lace.

  6. I got a double surprise when I got here tonight. TWO posts from you! Wonderful!

I love the clear glass with the white. It's one of my favorite combinations. I also love Queen Anne's Lace. Do you ever dry it and put it in your Christmas tree? That makes me think about doing that again this year. I got rid of all that sort of thing during the last move. I always dried it and then sprayed it with hair spray to keep it "contained". It looks beautiful stuck helter-skelter into a Christmas tree. (well, now you KNOW I'm a little loony)..lol

I do love you blog! xxoo Diana

  7. I can so see you there in candle light as the moon dances on the water. You have such a peaceful home. The table cloth is so pretty and I love that little pitcher. Queen Anne's lace is making a come back here. Far too long, the farmers sprayed everything they could. It sure looks wonderful on your table!

  8. Oh Debbie, what a beautiful table setting! I love that you can sit there and look out upon the water. Seeing your Queen Anne's lace brings back memories of my MIL's old home...where she had tons of it along her fence line. So pretty!!

  15. Sooooo beautiful, Debbie.....so pretty...so peaceful....so wonderfully white! You set a table to die for, girl. I love all the shades of white you've combined. Hubby brought me some Queen Anne's lace the other day from the meadow out back. It is so very pretty on the windowsill.

    Beautifully written post today, sis!

Oh, and btw - about that second French body pitcher I discovered on eBay? Hubs never even noticed.....go figure. lol!
