Take your time.

Good afternoon...... it's a partly sunny afternoon here at the old lakehouse.
Mr. L just pulled the boat out of the water....the last sign that summer is coming to an end, and fall begins.

Why is it so difficult to let go of summer this year?  I LOVE fall....but it just seems that summer flew by, and I missed it somehow. Maybe it's because I work....or maybe we made so many trips downstate for parties, and other things on the weekends we had off. We were only able to spend time on the boat three times this season. I don't know.........I enjoyed the parties...so what's the problem???

Is it an "age" thing? The older we get, the faster time goes by?
I seriously tried to savor every moment of summer....but, where did it go?!

I guess I'll have to put as much effort into holding on to fall as I did summer.
Life is so fragile. You never know when it could all be gone.  I find myself clinging onto each moment...not willing to let anything go.
Does that make me selfish? or paranoid? or maybe just a wee bit loony?

Whatever it is that's going on....I plan to continue to experience each day to the fullest.

I work the next three days..then Ethan(my grandson) has a soccer tournament in Traverse City, so Kelly(my daughter) and her family will be staying here for the weekend.
I'm looking forward to that! and plan to enjoy the days in between as much as possible.

Today I'm cleaning the upstairs bedrooms for our company that's coming up Friday.
My SIL requested home made pizza for supper on Friday....The kids will also enjoy some chocolate chip cookies, and maybe an apple pie.
I LOVE to cook, and bake for my family. Fall is always a great time to do some baking. LOTS of baking!
(Can you tell I'm trying to psych myself up for the change in seasons here?)
Okay then.......time to get those bedrooms ready for kids and grandkiddos.
Enjoy your day! I'm going to.

  1. Hello my dear friend. I think that it is great that you want to embrace life and soak in every moment, life goes by so fast. I have to agree, it seems the older we get the faster it goes.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with the family, it sounds perfect.

  2. It makes you appreciative of what God has allowed you to have. It means that you do not take his gifts for granted and that you are becoming more like a sponge, absorbing all that this life has to offer and keeping in mind that it won't always be so. That time does move on and that today will never happen again. It means you are sentimental and have a deep love for those here.
Your little doodads made me smile today...love the tree of life.
God made you special to brighten cloudy days.

Now, I think, instead of dry docking the boat, you need to move your couch out and bring the boat in beside the fireplace for the winter...a couple of blue sheets on the ground and your're set for the evening...I know you have sand and shells to make a beach. Just a cake pan with a stick so you can write in the sand every day...

  4. Well, I see Tete has an idea to move your boat INTO the house...uh-huh...next thing you know she will have you in a bikini sipping pink lemonade by the fire! That's our Tete!

I am just like you and that is one of my upcoming posts- that I got robbed of summer this year! yes- I -did. Awful Spring and then it was a short, hot summer...and now it's Fall! How can that be?

Anyway, have fun with your family. I like it when our kids are here too...but with working and visits it sometimes seems I don't have a moment for just me! I love to cook and bake for everyone too! I knew we were sisters on some level!

Have a wonderful night- xo Diana

  6. Ok.....so I'm cooking/baking challenged.....so the next time you're down here...YOU'RE playing Chef...though you may have to wrestle Hubby for that honor. lol!

*sigh*....I so understand what you're saying about the seasons screaming by and here we stand in the blur of it all with our arms out saying, "Stop!" It is a sign of getting older, like Tete said, and we just so appreciate every moment, every happening, every breath of air - we feel the need to hang on to it all before it slips between our fingers like sand. ♥ As long as we're aware of those moments, it's all good - especially when we're surrounded by friends and family and thanking God for every single thing. :)

    xoxo laurie
