Hello, and happy Thursday~~~It's another hot one here at the lakehouse! But I'll take it...cold weather is coming soon enough.
I wanted to share with you my shutter. It's a 19th century shutter....all dovetail fittings...not one screw, or nail in it! The detailing is beautiful!
My husband almost fainted when he saw me painting her yesterday. What is it about wood? Men have a fit when we paint it! Helloooo....dark wood...cottage....white!!!
I will be roughing her up...but for now she's drying in the corner. Don't you love the carvings?
Look at all of the detail work! The lattice work is all dovetail joints.
I love it!!!!
I doubt this will be where she permanently rests...but for now...she's happy.
I will be sharing with My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.
Enjoy your day.
Debbie

Oh Debbie, it is so pretty! Where did you find it? I don't think I've seen one like that before. Such detail to it!
ReplyDeletehi debbie,
ReplyDeleteyour old shutters looks amazing with all the pretty details.great job!!
your dinningroom from the last post looks very
cosy...i like your style.
greetings,regina
Your shutter is so detailed and so beautiful. It looks so much better painted white. I love it. I know what you mean about 'men' liking everything to stay the wood color. lol I've been single now for about 5 years and gradually every single piece of furniture I have is getting the 'cottage white' treatment. I love it!

Debbie- this is so cool. I have never seen anything like it before. I have the same problem with my husband on painting wood. My oak kitchen cabinets are still waiting on a good white paint job, but he is sad and it's taking him time to get used to the idea...someday...

What amazing craftsmanship, it's just beautiful-enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHI Debbie ~ thanks for stopping by. That is one great shutter - it looks so nice white ~ doesn't everything:):)

Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteYou make everything so pretty. I just love that shutter and even more so in white.
Men do seem to have a thing about painting dark wood. Guess it's a guy thing!
hugs

Debbie,
ReplyDeleteLove the old shutter!! It is beautiful...I've never seen one like it before. And I love it painted white...I think that the detail shows up more.

What a beautiful shutter.
ReplyDeleteWow Debbie-the shutter is so unusual and pretty. I like the fireplace screen too!
ReplyDeleteHey Debbie! Wow! What a find!!! I have never seen ANYTHING like it before. What part of the country do you think it came from and was it used as an indoor shutter do you think? I love it? If I come to visit you better check my luggage when I leave because I might try to hide it under one of your towels (that I might also steal). You know I just looked at it again. I think I might have seen something similar to that in a big old fancy hotel-as a "barrier", for lack of a better word, between a check out area and a side entrance...so that the people working could see out but no one could enter that way. It would be really interesting to know its history, wouldn't it? LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd...men...and paint...they just don't get it! xxoo Diana
I think it used to be used to keep men locked up that don't like white painted wood.....
ReplyDeleteIt is totally amazing, Debbie! Sooooo beautiful! Where in the world did you find it?
MISS YOU!

ReplyDeleteOooH... That is SO lovely!! Do tell... wherever did you find that gem?? SOoooo much better in white!! ( He must think so now :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't comment on your table, it is SO fabulous, I have serious table envy. I wish that we had that much room for guests..
I do like it smaller, then adding when guests are there for dinner.
You have such a lovely place.
