Well, it's late summer here at the lakehouse, but we still have a little color left in the gardens...mostly yellow...but that's okay, we'll take it.
The Menarda is spent, but was full of big old bumblers for quite a while.
The little Mexican daisies are still going strong, as well as the black eyed Susan's.
I love the yellow flowers. They are such happy little fellas. They make the transition to Autumn a little easier.
It won't be long, and the flowers will be gone. The boats will be coming out of the water shortly after Labor Day. Hunting season will be starting up..and the geese will be flying over.
Until then...I'm holding on. As long as the weather holds, I'll be outside, and out on the boat, enjoying the lake. I'm not ready to let go of summer just yet...so I'm NOT putting the suntan lotion away...at least not for a couple of weeks anyway.
Enjoy your weekend....get outside and soak up some sun!
Debbie
Girlfriend, you hang on with both hands while you can. I remember the seasons in Ohio- shorter than here for sure.
ReplyDeleteAre you in the north or south?
We can have 60's through Christmas some years, so fall is welcome here. It means the crops come out of the field and we can have the breezes back and the humidity will drop so much.
The are so many pumpkins and mums and the prairie will dance in the blaze of fall.
I will show you as it comes...
Love your background music- Raise Me Up...wonderful just to hang out here until the song is done...
Hugs- Tete
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI'm holding on to summer too! Your flowers still look happy to be at your beautiful house! Have a lovely weekend.

Summer here is much longer for us. Sometimes thats good but I do miss the crispness of Fall. As long as the humidity goes away I will be happy. I'm waiting :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pics, Debbie. Love the black-eyed susans...Hubby & I just discussed putting some in. We pulled out a bush & now have hole for planting : )
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya, on holding onto summer...winters here in Mi. are just too long... and fall means it is coming.. Enjoy it as long as you can.... Have a good weekend!!
Hey Debbie-I feel like I am already mourning summer a bit. I was so busy with everything that I feel like it bypassed me. We did not have a single bonfire on the shore this summer...unheard of here! I am hoping that I can get a few more warm summer days in before Fall descends...although I love Fall the best.
ReplyDeleteYou flowers still look pretty good-a lot of mine are gone and others are well past their prime. I finally hired someone today to come and weed my garden beds for me. It was a young man heading off to college that needed the funds so I don't feel quite so awful for not doing it myself. He's coming back tomorrow to do our berm and weed around the playhouse much to my shame;>(
Debbie-I did NOT get to the post office today and I have to work tomorrow...and have a houseful right now. I will try to get there Saturday. Take heart-I have not forgotten. Diana
I hear you! I'm holding on as well. The humidity is a bear in S.C. but I'll take the good with the bad.

Hi Debbie!
ReplyDeleteJust got your comment about the Hollyhocks. Our little P.O. burned down two weeks ago, I'm heading to the temporary offices today to see if the seeds made it there. Thanks for letting me know, I'm sure they must be there waiting for me. You make my day! Have a good weekend, you are so sweet to remember me with those beautiful seeds!

Oh, I would HOLD ON too! Around here, it is so miserably hot in the summer that we welcome fall with a great big hug. But I love your flowers and scenery where you are. I agree those flowers are happy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would definitely HOLD ON to them as long as I could.
Hi Debbie....I was finally able to sit back out on the deck today for my dose of vitamin D...the humidity has lifted atleast for today and only 81...I left my suntan oil in Jersey so I have to wing it...my tan if beginning to fade...I loved your porch post...the dishes are so pretty...and your message in a bottle...I always argue with daughter over the ending of that movie....I say Kevin Costner drowned on purpose because he lost the love of his life....she said he just plain drowned...Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHello Sweet Debbie,
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look beautiful...
I hope you are having a great Sunday!
